KEY TSI ACTIVITIES:

  1. TSI PAGE - Arts & Culture Scene - maintains databases; (NOTE: The Las Cruces Convention Center and Visitor's Bureau has an "ARTS SCENE" page and Las Cruces 360 is implementing links and entries informed by TSI databases & calendar).
  2. TSI works to bolster the 'business of art' with free 'service learning' projects to grow our 'creative economy.' TSI did 1st Annual Arts Convention in 2008 with facilitation at no charge to bring synergy to the local 'Cultural Economy' and the creative industries of music, visual arts, literature, film, performing arts, and business development for regional artists and local craft artisans. Task forces were facilitated by TSI & NMSU business students in small business consulting courses Mgt 448 & Mgt 548 as 'service learning project' to the community by developing public-private-grassroots collaboration to encourage economic growth. We look forward to 2nd Annual Arts Convention in 2009 as an annual event to network artists and crafts people, and arts organizations to buyers, and to launch economic-capacity-building, leadership, and marketing initiatives. 4. TSI supports the idea that Arts and Culture is important stimulus to Southern New Mexico Economy. Our Arts Scene is a 'creative economy' that creates jobs, attracts investment, generates tax revenues, stimulates tourism and increase our quality of life. See pdf Arts & Economy National Governor's Association study. 2.98 million people across the U.S. work for 612,095 arts-centric businesses. That is 2.2 %of all U.S. employment and 4.3% of all U.S. businesses. See Americans for the Arts report. 35% of artists are self-employed (see Artists in the Workplace 1990-2005 report) Marketing and leadership Artist tool kit, Texas Commission on Arts
  5. TSI uses Storytelling Organizations facilitation method for the series of annual Arts conventions . We need to tell our story, and market our creative economy during this economic recession. | Boje's new book Storytelling Organizations | Please join Linked in STORYTELLING Group | Storytelling Organization Blog
