    Dear Selection Committee:

Please consider this letter of interest a strong expression of being a part of Prospectus #206, the New Mexico State University O'Donnell Hall art contest. The enclosed resume supports my qualifications and credentials.

Through my years I have already accomplished so much. At a young age I suffered a complete loss of my central vision and most of my peripheral. It is only through bright colors that I am able to see the world today. I moved to New Mexico as a child to pursue a cure for my disability, but in that pursuit I began a new chapter of my life. I joined the NMSU track team and ran in the international Olympiad for the physically handicapped. After years of being an athlete I found the hidden talent of being an exceptional artist. Becoming an artist enables continued reminders that being handicapped does not diminish the individual’s abilities. Some of accomplishments include:

    - Numerous art exhibits all over the world
    - USA Olympic Athlete for the disabled
    - Blind athlete and Award winning artist

In addition, I offer exceptional art work. Through the means of tiles, murals, paintings, and quilts; I will take my art work and give O’Donnell Hall a bright expression and inspiration that will challenge and encourage every student that walks into the building. They will read my story and be inspired to do more. My art can inspire the student of tomorrow.

Though my resume summarizes my career history, there is much more to it. I look beyond my accomplishments by touching the lives of kids and adults that have been down the path that I have been. I bring art to those who see it in a different way. My art inspires those who can only see brightness and my life inspires those who don’t think they can. Please consider me for this prospectus as I can be the artist that can captivate and inspire the art exhibit you are looking for. Most of all I want to bring my art and story back to the place where it all began. New Mexico State University and Las Cruces Community, without them, I would not be here today.
    Sincerely,
    George Mendoza
