PFREE Saturday events for the public in Green Arts happenings (facilitated by artist Virginia Maria Romero) that will take place in front of Alma d'Arte on Court Street - Noon to 4:30 PM, including mural creating (led by a team of artists) in support of Environmental (Green) Arts, A Children's Theatre performances, Talking Stick Circles, music for all ages, and Storytelling Tours of historic Alameda, Mesquite, and Mesilla by expert historians (e.g. Storyteller Precilliana Sandova). Vendors are available if you want lunch at the What's Art? Street Festival.

4:30-5:30 Street Festival clean up, with recycling provided by Art Lucero, NMSU Recycling (volunteers appreciated)

Come to WHAT'S ART STREET FESTIVAL and play in ART BATTLE CAGE (Daniel Aguilera originiated the idea in SumArt Fest, co-organized with Chris Bardey, that was held at Mikey's Place, and SumArt Fest Battle Cage and other exhibits are being showcased at the College of Arts & Sciences /NMSU Foundation's Rally - http://www.nmsu.edu/~ucomm/atnmsu/cur/rallyarts.html

2nd and final day of Special - The What’s Art? CALL FOR ARTISTS = Convention is seeking artists who wish to sell their art October 2 & 3 inside Alma d’arte Charter High School (402 Court St.) where the WHAT'S ART Convention will take place. Guidelines can be obtained at Alma H.S. or at talkingstick.info. E-mail iwhite@zianet.com or call 647-3546 for more information. All media are accepted. There is no fee to enter. The 15% commission will be used to defray convention expenses. Deadline is Sept. 18. Fill out and submit ARTIST AGREEEMENT | SEE WHAT'S ART GALLERY entries (get your art entered today) . 11:00-12:00 -- Vendors setup their own tables & displays for sales of food or art/crafts items ($50 fee); Supporting Arts and Economic Organizations set up tables & displays without sales (Free to What's Art Support Organizations). Please use only recyclable Plastic bottles (#1),

Watercolor Society is all signed up with a 10 x 10 outdoor tent to hand out brochures on the organization..... and to sell paintings.

STREET FESTIVAL FOOD VENDORS: Hot dog vendor, the Kansas City BBQ, and Jakes Cafe

Noon-2:00 Lunch (bring your own or purchase from vendors); plus events listed below and ongoing artists activites for whole faily in support of Environmental (Green) Arts, Talking Stick Circles, music for all ages; juggler, graffitti artists, air brush artists and lowrider cars and bikes, and Blacksmith Artist booth

 

NOON - 3:30PM ONGOING DEMONSTRATIONS: Pep Gomez (Blacksmith/ Knive-making), Mata Ortiz (World Famous Pottery), Eric Brown (Renown Pottery sculpter?), Maurice Zeck (Ice sculpture).

NOON- Kick off event: A 12 foot hight Talking Stick accompanied by Kuruna 'drumming' will lead a procession to speccial Tree Planting ceremeony (west end of Alma d'arte) Poem and moviing art pieces by TheMaggieCat, including 'Think Green' theme

Kuruna Durmming, smudging by Sabine, Virginia, Yolanda, moving pieces of art by TheMaggieCat, Pat, ACT performers, mariachi, Yolanda and Karlene singing

Theme of Finale: Lighting the Way to the Future of Creative Economy, recognizing the WHAT'S ART? Convention Support Organizations, the Producers/Creators, the Advocates, and Consumers of the Arts & Culture Industry of Souther New Mexico.

4:30-5:30 Green event - recyling the materials, tidying up, restoring Court Street the way we found it. Thank you NMSU Aggie Recyling

Art Lucero and NMSU Recycling will provide receptacles and a trailer to haul away recyclable materials at end of the day. There will be an art project that will use crushed can cubes. The project will be recycled at the end of the day. Romero said this won’t be just another art show, but something that can make a real difference.
