The first photo: "Dahlia": I created this painting after attending a family reunion which was located in Northern New Mexico. All of the family had stayed at a private home where in the backyard there was a pond with plants, fish, and many dragonfly's. My Aunt was the one who had taken the picture of "Dahlia" and named her. In the original picture, "Dahlia" is appearing as though she is looking at the camera and posing. The name "Dahlia" seemed to fit because of her bright and bold colors and spunky personality.
