STEERING COMMITTEE & BY-LAWS: At the April 2006 meeting in DC sc'MOI, we voted in our by-laws. John Luhman and Rita Durant were appointed by Conference Predisend David Boje to chair the "Steering Committee." The Steering Committee is made of found members of sc'MOI plus those who have attended at least two sc'MOI conferences. We created a process whereby new people can be nominated to reviewed for membership in our Streering Committee. Steering Committee, with the Executive Board is part of our overall sc'MOI democractic governance process. The plan is to create a listserv of Steering Committee members that will discuss and recommend to the Executive Board. For example, at 2006 meeting we approved a conference theme, location, changes in the format of the meeting (be in one room, when possible, get presenters to provoke dialog in the room instead of being didactic, and came this close to banning PowerPoint and turning Luddite). Such items will be discussed and processed with more deliberation than can occur in our final hour of our General Assemblly Meeting at a conference. If you would like to nominate someone with two sc'MOI confernce events to be part of the STEERING COMMITTEE, please send nomination to either John Luhman JLuhman@une.edu or Rita Durant rdurant@abc-xyz.com

GENERAL ASSEMBLY: This is a face-to-face meeting of Executive Board, Steering Committee, and persons attending the conference but not part of governance. Votes by General Assembly are informative, but need to be confirmed (or not) by Steering Committee and/or Executive Board). The President of sc'MOI chairs this session.

TAMARA JOURNAL: At the 2006 meeting, Heather Hopfl and David Boje agreed, with unanimous approval of Executive Board and Steeering Committee to become co-editors of Tamara Journnal. TJ will be trnsferred from New Mexico State to Essex University over the next two years. This will give the journal more international presence. Essex is able to offer more didicated support to the type-setting of the journal. Contact David Boje tamara@nmsu.edu Heather Hopfl hopfl@essex.ac.uk
