ISSUE 1: Corporate Behavior in War time - 8 April 2003.

Dear New Mexico Representatives - Steve Pearce, Pete Domenici, and Jeff Bingaman:

I do not beleive there should be corporate Tax Dodges, especially during War time. Halliburton, Tyco and Accenture (along with wealthy individuals) are costing the nation over $70 billion a year through offshore tax dodges (Source: MoveOn). I ask that you outlaw corporate offshore tax dodges. PeaceAware.com is calling upon you to vote "Yes" on the "Corporate Patriot Enforcement Act" (HR 737 / S 384). What is your position on corporations leaving the country to avoid taxes during war time? Please provide it in writing so we can share it with our PeaceAware community in New Mexico. Why is this corporate-exodus happening while young American men and women are being sent to Iraq, and while we’re all facing deficits and cutbacks in New Mexico and the nation?

Sincerely,

David M. Boje, Ph.D. Vietnam Veteran, Co-organizer PeaceAware

ISSUE 2: Prevent Pentagon form Controlling Post-War Iraq - 9 April 2003

Dear Senator Pete Domenici:

PeaceAware has leanred that your are a member of the HOUSE/SENATE Conference Committee. I understand that White House is asking you to place Iraq funding under Pentagong Control (Source: EPIC Alert April 9). Two committees will decide the issue ( Senate/House Appropriations Committee & House/Senate Conference Committee). The current "emergency supplemental appropriations bill" would remove Pentagon control over U.S. funds related to humanitarian assistance and reconstruction in post-war Iraq. The House/Senate Conference Committee is expected to meet April 10 and 11.

Since you are a Member of Congress is on the House/Senate Conference Committee, I urge you to ensure the emergency supplemental bill on Iraq retains the key provision that expressly forbids funds for Iraq relief and reconstruction from going to the Pentagon. Please do NOT reverse the expressed intent of both the House and the Senate. The State Department, in partnership with the UN and our allies, is the appropriate authority for U.S. funds related to post-war Iraq. We ask you to shift money from the Pentagon's $396.1 billion budget, and the $200 billion Iraq war cost to the State Dept. for Iraq relief and reconstruction. I strongly support this provision because this it retains Congressional authority and oversight. Please retain our legislature’s constitutional role in humanitarian assistance and reconstruction efforts.

Please do what you can to minimize suffering of Iraqi civilians and help rebuild thier country.

Sincerely,

David M. Boje, Ph.D., Vietnam Veteran, co-organizer PeaceAware

ISSUE 3: Repeal of Public Law 107-243. The Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq - Feb 7 2003

Dear, Congressman Pearce and Senators Bingaman and Domenici:

On Feb 7 2003 - a Democrat and a Republican introduced a bill to call for a repeal of Bush's Blank Check for War. "Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, Section 1. Repeal of Public Law 107-243. The Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 (Public Law 107-243; 116 Stat. 1498) is hereby repealed."

I urge you to support Repeal of Public Law 107.243.  I heard no new evidence from Secretary Powell’s address to the United Nations, that would convince me that military action in Iraq is necessary to improve security of Americans. We in New Mexico hold weekly Peace Vigils, and are organizing an Interfaith Symposium for Peace. See www.PeaceAware.com

Sincerely,

David M. Boje, Ph.D., Vietnam Veteran

SAMPLE LETTER

Dear First Lady Laura Bush,

Since you cancelled the reading of poetry in the White House, we recommend reading a classic Greek play instead. We are recommending you host a reading of Aristophanes' classic anti-war  play Lysistrata - who first proposed CLICK HERE to get copy of play.

Lysistrat says to "make peace" withhold sexual favors from those who support war. We believe if you withhold sex from George W. Bush, that he will loose interest in the Iraq War.

On behalf of the Iraqi innocent, all women of the world, and for the sake of the soul of the United States, please help. Ask your husband, President Bush, to seek a non-violent solution instead of the mass horror of war.

Respectfully,
