CALENDAR
NEW ITEMS
The Peace and Justice Center's first annual meeting and party will be this
Saturday, Jan. 15, from noon to 3 p.m. at the center, 1210 E. Madrid.
Members, guests and prospective members are welcome to join us for a buffet
meal, visioning of goals for the center, door prizes, garden tour, music and
much more. The center is only as strong as those who participate, so please
get involved!
Thursday, Jan. 20 is Inauguration Day. A national boycott is being planned,
called Not One Damn Dime Day (no discretionary spending to corporations on
that day). Several people have asked if there will also be a local protest
or vigil. Chris Schaefer seems to be organizing a student walkout and
university protest on University Ave., but I have no details. You can reach
him at chriss@nmsu.edu
Also, on Saturday, Jan. 22, an observance of the Roe v. Wade decision will
be held in front of City Hall at noon, coordinated by NARAL.
