Global Vigil for Peace 16 March, 2003

Dear PeaceAware

Last Night 50 people attended the Global Vigil for Peace at 2831 Buena Vida Court, the home of David Boje and Grace Ann Rosile in Las Cruces. David Boje is co-organize for www.PeaceAware.com, an action arm of the Peace Community of Southern New Mexico.

We shared our views on peace, we prayed in silence together, we sang songs together, and we lit our candles so the light of Peace would spread across the world. We had good press coverage from Roundup and Sun-News. I read the INTERFAITH PROCLAMATION agreed to at Saturday's Interfaith Search for Peace Retreat

Interfaith Proclamation

"Peacemaking" is action. We stand for peace in this world. We continue interfaith dialog in our congregations. We educate congregations about the effects of war. We pray for world peace. We peacemakers emanate world peace. We send peace to government leaders, that they will be peacemakers. We declare, stand for, believe, and act to bring about world peace.

We conducted a peaceful event. We will be sending photos to www.GlobalVigil.org and www.MoveOn.org/vigil

Today (Mar 17th) at 1PM and 430 PM we go to the City Council of Las Cruces (200 Church street) and we request that the Councilors put the PEACE AND CIVIL LIBERTIES RESOLUTION onto their agenda.

57 people have signed up to speak. We ask that you each make a different point. PeaceAware coordinators will be their to assist you. We will bring talking points. The rules are we may speak as long as we do not repeat a point.

We ask that you be Peaceful and Respectful and demonstrate inner peace and outer peace at the City Council meeting.

If there is need for any civil acts of disobedience to wage Peacemaking, we will emanate peace. We hope and pray that we join the 90 other cities and counties in the U.S. who have passed similar resolutions.

Finally, we thank Global Vigil for Peace and MoveOn for the Global Vigil for Peace. Many remarked how important it was to join in solidarity with the thousands around the world in this event.

Bring the Troops Home. Let there be Peace.

Thank you,

David M. Boje, Ph.D.
