World Multiethnical Education:
Ì"... and you will make the bridge that two hearts and the heart" Hope elder, -Grandfather David Monongve.
Ì“This is the place of our rest and our greatness.” -Eduardo Galeano
The above graphic and the name, World MED
(World Multiethnical ED.) is simply a “marketable” concept. A name of an
institution, however, is very important in direct regard to its success. The
name, “The World & ME (World
Multi-ethnicity Education) has also echoed in my thoughts.
The words” Reintegrating Hearts and Minds” refers to the core
assistance group originally sent to Vietnam by former President John F. Kennedy.
This group of elite men was sent not to battle but to teach the people of
South Vietnam the art of self-empowerment. It began as a noble aspiration by an
individual who was truly an inspiring leader. What followed, unfortunately, is
written has been written in the pages of history as one of the largest national
tragedies that our country has known. A reintegration of “hearts and minds,”
however, seems to be exactly what is needed in this present time.
Ì“Life without liberty is like a body without a spirit.” –Kahlil Gibran, “The Vision”
The Democracy that
is the people of our nation has
had little, if any, voice in the current situation and the complex history
leading to it. At this time, however, the people can be heard speaking out. The
situation of world politics is not going away. The situation demands that we as
a People not only look into our own hearts but into each heart that lives in the
global citizenship of those who share our Earth. I believe the solution to our
fears lies in the form of a gesture-or gift-“for the people and by the
people” of our World. The states within the States, or the People, have the
abilities and desire to offer this gift to the people of the World. The national
concern and fear that we as citizens of the United States are feeling is one of
global proportion. The people of the World are looking for a solution to this
fear and the promise of a future for our children. While we cannot change the
past, it is clear that the future is, at this time, in our hands. The People
must acknowledge our responsibilities to help, educate and ultimately empower
individuals in other lands. In
doing so, it may then be possible for the government of the United States to
safely disengage from the affairs of other countries and address that which
needs attention within our own country.
Ì “…Of this I am quite sure, that if we open a quarrel between the past and the present, we shall find that we have lost the future…” –Winston Churchill
My idea is based on the principle
of the empowerment of all willing individuals with the gift and unparalleled
strength that lies in the acquisition of knowledge.
This gift of knowledge and power is one that strengthens a nation through
the power of the mind…as opposed to weapons. The reference commonly made that
“If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day.” If, however, that man
were taught to fish… (or perhaps farm)…he would then be able to eat for a
lifetime. Read more on Empower.
One day in the
near future, a small group of ten inspired and hopeful individuals arrives in
the town of _______? In the country, ______? They still feel it is a miracle that they are there! The
dream, somehow, was made into a swift reality.
The donated supplies, assorted literature and equipment as well as the
food had arrived by private jet the previous day.
