PeaceAware is a loosely coupled transorganizational network
of peace groups in Southern New Mexico. We organize Teach-Ins, Interfaith Symposiums,
Pot Lucks, and Vigils for Peace. We operate a listserve
(peace@nmu.edu), a website (PeaceAware.com),
and discussion
board.
Our mission is to serve the PeaceAware Network of New Mexico by providing groups & organizations spaces for dialog, where voices for peace & justice can be heard, and events activated in our community. Our vision is to create a world where peace & justice reins and people are aware. We do engage in activism, not protest injustice. Activism seeks to bring change through action steps and networking. Protest is yelling; activism is listening and dialog. Our common value is commitment to peace and non-violence issues. These are our core values:
is
"Respecting all Life."
is acting with
AWARENESS.
is BEING AWARE of
PEACE.
is Voices
Speaking-Out for PEACE.
is being able to
Visualize a Peaceful World.
is non-Violence
(Ahimsa) and Reverence for all life.
is BEING AWARE of
the consequences of the War Machine.
is the way we
approach our lives, our food, other beings, and our environment.
